Centuries back we have seen many different cultures having their ear pierced. If
you look in history you will find ancient people of Egypt, Roman and Greek who
used to have piercing and tattoos on their body. Many people have done piercing
of different parts of their bodies as they thought it would show their importance
in the group or save them from evil.
In modern times many young people do piercing. Ear piercing is the most popular
kind of body modification. Generally it’s done on lobe or on cartilage. But there
are many other places on the ear to be pierced and you can choose among:
- Rook Piercing: The Rook is the highest fold of cartilage, beneath the Helix
- Tragus Piercing: The Anti-Tragus is the raised fold of cartilage that sits on
the outer side of the ear, above the ear lobe and just opposite the tragus.
- Industrial Piercing: The industrial piercing is two or more separate rim (or
cartilage) piercings that are joined by one barbell.
- Daith Piercing: The Daith (Crux of Helix) is the fold of cartilage that sits
beneath the rook and is closest to the ear canal.
- Conch Piercing: The Conch is the large area of cartilage that makes up the back
of the ear.
- Orbital Piercing: The Orbital is a piercing which enters and exits through the
same area of cartilage at the top of the ear.
- Scaffolds Piercing: The scaffold piercing is two or more separate rim (or cartilage)
piercings that are joined by one barbell.
- Lobe Piercing: The ear lobe the fleshy tissue that hangs at the bottom of the
ear.
